Family Fun Before the 4th
kicks off Independence Day
with a full day of fun this Saturday! 

Get your Independence Day holiday celebration started with Family Fun Before the 4th in Thiensville!

The festivities on Saturday, June 29, get started with a parade that winds its way through the village, starting at 10:30 a.m. Immediately afterward, members of the University of Wisconsin Marching Band will perform in Village Park.

A full day of activities will take place in the park. They include the BadgerLand Waterski Show and performances by two bands, Sawdust Symphony and SEMPLE. 

The day concludes with the area's most spectacular fireworks display, which begins at dusk.

Thiensville Lifestyle Coalition
sets second Wednesday Walk

The Thiensville Lifestyle Coalition's second Wednesday Walk through the village will take place this week.

Individuals who want to participate in the hour-long walk are asked to meet in Village Park at 6:55 p.m.

The focus of this walk will be historic districts in the village. The walk will feature a chance to look around inside Thiensville's historic original fire station at Main Street and Buntrock Avenue. Village Trustee Ron Heinritz will lead the tour.

Karin Floodstrom, one of the organizers of the walks, interviewed Trustee Heinritz and wrote this story.

Participants in the twice-a-month walk are invited to bring donations for Family Sharing, which will be collected before the walk begins. The food pantry's needs this month include four-packs of toilet paper, syrup, pancake mix and Rice Krispies cereal

Thiensville Village Market is every Tuesday in Village Park

Thiensville Village Market -- the best farmers' market on the North Shore -- runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday through Oct. 15.

More than 70 vendors will be in Thiensville's Village Park with a wide selection of locally produced goods. There will be live music during the lunch hour. Village Market is organized by the Thiensville Business Association.

Registration is open
for Safety Town

The annual Safety Town program for children entering 5K in fall will take place from July 22 through Aug. 2. There will be two sessions. The first runs from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; the second, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Attendance is required for both weeks. Classes will be held at Steffen Middle School in Mequon.

Registration continues until July 5 or until the limit of 42 children per session is reached. The fee is $25. Registration forms can be found online at Registration may be dropped off or mailed.

The event is put on by the Mequon-Thiensville Optimist Club, the Thiensville Police Department and the Mequon Police Department.
