[ARCHIVED] Sheds, other structures require Village approval

They also must be approved by the Historic Preservation Commission if the property is in Thiensville’s Historic District. Once the necessary approvals are gained, a building permit must be obtained.

Village Hall staff is happy to help you through the required steps. Plans that show where the shed will be placed, its size and what it will look like must be submitted at least two weeks prior to a meeting of the Plan Commission, which meets the first Tuesday of each month.

If Historic Preservation Commission review and approval is required, their consideration of the Certificate of Appropriateness must occur first. The Historic Preservation Commission meets the second Wednesday of the month.

More details about the requirements for an accessory structure are available on the Village’s website.

Fences, decks and driveway additions also require Village review.
