[ARCHIVED] Prescription Drug Drop-Off/Shredding event is Sept. 26

Das Klean Out-2

The Village of Thiensville and Port Washington State Bank are joining together Saturday, Sept. 26, for Das Klean Out, a prescription drug drop-off and shredding event, at PWSB's Thiensville branch.

Das Klean Out -- a local event to mark national Drug Take Back Day and Cybersecurity Awareness Month -- will host the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the bank, 197 S. Main St. in Thiensville.

In addition to the drug drop-off and shredding opportunities, the Oktoberfest-themed event offers free food, live polka music and crafting activities for children. The Lakeshore Chinooks, along with mascot Gill, will provide volunteer support. The Thiensville Business Association also is a key supporter of the vent and will be collecting donations to help fund a splash pad in Village Park.

Thiensville Police Chief Curt Kleppin said a similar event this spring was a big success.

"In April, we collected almost 70 pounds of prescription drugs," the chief said. "Beyond that, it's a fun way to get into the fall spirit."

PWSB's Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Officer James Schowalter said being a part of Das Klean Out is important for the bank and its mission to be involved in the community.

"Fun community events like Das Klean Out are a brand hallmark for Part Washington State Bank -- and a great opportunity for our Mequon and Thiensville neighbors to get to know us and our partners," Schowalter said. "We're also really excited to see the Village Park ReImagined plans come to fruition with more donations for the next phase of development in the park."
