Proposed infrastructure improvements within the redevelopment district will provide upscale aesthetics, improve bicycle and pedestrian connections, create new public open spaces, and enhance the overall look and feel of the corridor making the coridor a cohesive part of the downtown business district.
Freistadt Road improvements will include an off-street bike path extending from Main Street to the Interurban Trail and beyond. This connection will promote increased visitation to the downtown business district and Thiensville Crossing.
The new street cross-section includes tree-lined terraces and expanded plant beds at business entry points. The large parking lot west of Main Street will be reconfigured to provide screening and shade coverage for business patrons. Street lighting, decorative planters, benches, and improved crosswalks will further enhance Downtown Thiensville’s new aesthetic.
