Thiensville has a large number of condos and apartment style buildings.
Most (if not all) of the units are not sealed adequately, and smoke from one unit freely passes into other adjoining units.
Other families are forced to breath in second hand smoke on a daily basis, and this constant exposure is shown to increase risk of heart and lung disease by 30%, cause cancer, and is most dangerous to children who are still growing and developing.
Second hand smoke is estimated to cause approx. 50,000 deaths per year (in comparison that is greater than the entire us death toll in the Vietnam war)
Many other areas are starting to ban smoking in multi-family buildings, and I feel strongly that it would greatly improve the quality of life of many of our residents if we pass a similar ordinance as well.
