Visit Ghosts of Thiensville during
this week's final Wednesday Walk


The final Wednesday Walk of the season this Wednesday, Oct. 9, will feature a spooky walk to visit with ghosts at Thiensville businesses.

Walk and learn about Thiensville's most famous haunts -- featuring ghosts from Shully's Cuisine & Events, glaze, CORE and Heartspace.

Please note that THE WALK BEGINS AT 7 P.M. at Thiensville Village Hall, 250 Elm St. While the time of the past few walks had been earlier, this walk returns to the original time to ensure an appropriate spooky atmosphere to encourage ghostly appearances!!

This walk will not only scare you, it will also warm your heart. While one ghost is of the friendly Casper variety, others are more frightening. They slam doors, throw things, walk with heavy footsteps, change room temperatures and scare employees. Thiensville has no shortage of ghost stories!!

Karin Flodstrom, one of the organizers of the walks, interviewed Scott Shully, owner of Shully's Cuisine & Events, and wrote this story. Scott will lead the walk.

Ghosts of Thiensville is the eighth walk in the inaugural season of Wednesday Walks, which have been organized by Thiensville Lifestyle Coalition. Thanks to all who participated all year -- and made these walks a big success!

Shredding and prescription take-back event set for Saturday, Oct. 26


As part of national Drug Take Back Day, the village of Thiensville and Port Washington State Bank will conduct an Oktoberfest-themed event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at PWSB's Thiensville branch, 197 S. Main St.

Das Klean Out will provide an opportunity for area residents to safely dispose of expired or unneeded prescription drugs. A truck also will be on-site to provide an opportunity for residents to shred sensitive documents.

The event also will offer free food, live polka music and crafting activities for children. The Lakeshore Chinooks and team mascot Gill are providing volunteer support. The Thiensville Business Association also is a key supporter of the event and will be collecting donations for the planned splash pad in Thiensville's Village Park.

"In April, we collected almost 70 pounds of prescription drugs," said Thiensville Police Chief Curt Kleppin. "Beyond that, it's a fun way to get into the fall spirit."

Quarterly sewer bills should
have arrived in last week's mail


The village's quarterly sewer bills have been mailed. To avoid a late fee, the bill must be paid by Oct. 15. Bills may be paid by mail or in person at Village Hall. An after-hours drop box is near the front door.

Residents also can sign up for automatic payment of their sewer bill. Please complete this form and bring it to Village Hall along with a voided check. Once auto-pay is set up, you will continue to receive a bill in the mail, but the amount automatically will be deducted on the due date. The auto-pay form also is available at Village Hall.

Green Bay Pipe & TV, a contractor working for the village of Thiensville, is continuing to conduct inspections of the sanitary sewer system.

The inspections are part of the village’s asset management plan. They are used to plan for future maintenance needs and improvements.There will be no disruption of sewer service.

Thiensville Village Market is every Tuesday in Village Park


Thiensville Village Market -- the best farmers' market on the North Shore -- runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday through Oct. 15.

Come to Village Market and enjoy the bounty of autumn during the final two weeks of the market for the year.

More than 70 vendors will be in Thiensville's Village Park with a wide selection of locally produced goods. There will be live music during the lunch hour. Village Market is organized by the Thiensville Business Association.
